A heat wave hit Luxembourg, but the Rebel Walk went on as planned. On Saturday, June 27, the city center turned into an open-air furnace to host a fashion show with a purpose. Presented by Aurélie Wagener of Essenz Projet, the show gave a platform to socially conscious designers. Featured third in the lineup, Tohora® put its four hand-woven silks—crafted in Indian workshops—to the test in the sweltering heat.
Tohora: Artisanal Elegance Defies the Heat Wave
With fans unfurled and beads glistening on their foreheads, the Tohora models walked the runway under the blazing sun, introduced by the voice of Aurélie Wagener. The Luxembourg-based brand proves that ethical luxury can breathe—even at 35°C.
Every Tohora piece is handwoven in India, dyed with plant-based pigments*, and cut in Indian weavers’ workshops to ensure it lasts long beyond the lifespan of fast fashion.
For the occasion, all of the Tohora designs were beautifully complemented by natural stone necklaces from @MrGemStoneCowBoy. This collaboration creates a dialogue between Indian silk and raw minerals.
The 4 Tohora characters and the people who bring them to life
- Sabine Lehot, founder of Tohora, draped in an XXL stole made of golden Muga silk: Monumental, exquisite, luminous. This hand-woven golden silk from Assam is naturally thermoregulatory. It provided protection from the sun without feeling stuffy. Worn with a necklace by @MrGemStoneCowBoy featuring a deep blue stone.
- Model Pooja, from GlamGloveDiaries, looked mesmerizing in a majestic Tussar silk skirt: the piece that literally stopped passersby in their tracks. Pink and gold patchwork, floral embroidery, fuchsia tassels. The wild, hand-woven Tussar silk comes alive and breathes. Its impressive volume danced across the scorching cobblestones.

- Eriselda Hoxha, the designer of the ensemble, wearing her own creation: a Tussar silk stole hand-embroidered with mirrors. She sewed the Eri+Mûrier Dupion ensemble herself. She proudly wears her Tussar stole, adorned with hand-embroidered mirrors that catch the light. Around her neck is a red stone necklace by @MrGemStoneCowBoy.
All Tohora® silks are handwoven in Indian workshops: Assam Muga, Eri (“silk of peace”), Dupion Mulberry, and Wild Tussar. Four materials, four ancestral crafts, one shared commitment: to respect the fiber, the hands that weave it, and the body that wears it.
“We move freely”: 3rd run, same intensity
Moving up to third place and introduced by Aurélie Wagener, Tohora turned up the heat a notch. A sign was held up near the DJ that read: “WE MOVE FREELY.” Move freely in clothes that respect both the body and the planet, even when the air is unbreathable.
The presentations, organized by Aurélie Wagener and her Essenz project, highlighted Tohora’s core values: hand-woven silk from regions with Protected Geographical Indications, support for traditional craftsmanship, and human connections.
Behind the Scenes in the Cooler Thanks to Martina Barbuto
The models were able to brave the 35°C heat on the street thanks in part to the hospitality of Martina Barbuto, owner of the Art Gallery. She opened her beautiful, air-conditioned space to us so we could get ready. It was an oasis of coolness and calm that allowed the entire team to get ready before facing the sweltering heat. Her artwork in the background added a gallery-like atmosphere to our backstage area.
