Identity

There is no doubt that silk is considered one of the most beautiful and refined fabrics ever known. It symbolizes the versatility and creativity of a living craft.

The silk trade began several thousand years ago, with evidence of production dating back to around 2700 BC.

I'm not inventing anything... Nevertheless,

    “Know-how, cultural and ancestral heritage”

I am amazed by the expertise of artisans and driven by a desire to preserve and promote this cultural and ancestral heritage. I import living “treasures” from regions across Asia, Japan, Central Asia, and Latin America.

    “Living energy”

I am passionate through the transmission of creative energy, from the silk fiber in the hands of the weaver to those of the upholsterer or furniture designer, to the homeowner who can only cherish this “art” of incredible quality.
Every handmade object has a soul and a story.

    “The beauty of fine fabrics”

I live with emotion the people I meet on my travels, the trade in fine products, the beauty of silk fabrics, the palette of understated, luminous, and timeless whites, creams, and beiges, or even the flamboyant color palettes of richly decorated fabrics

« Quiet Luxury and Slow fashion »

I create, because creation is essential to every human being, a line of ®Tohora.by products, in partnership with a few weavers that I reveal to you in the form of limited editions, where the philosophy of “quiet luxury” aligns with that of “slow fashion.”

    “Share”

I am enthusiastic about participating in a business that values quality, as opposed to mass production. I also share a percentage of my profits with associations such as women's communities, villages of silk producers and weavers who promote the transmission of ancestral skills, as well as environmental protection associations.

I am therefore ready to listen to and support any ideas for associations that are put forward to me. Together, we can choose the associations that resonate with us.

Welcome to the world of textiles of exceptional fineness, the world of silk!

Tohora, fabrics for artists' creations, upholstery, curtains, frames, or wall decorations

Tohora seeks rich, unique, hand-woven silk fabrics of the highest quality and in the richest colors.

The collections are directly inspired by the cities and regions visited, the type of silk, and the weaving and printing techniques, which use traditional methods.

Hand weaving allows for exquisite creativity, giving rise to unique creations.

The four types of silk enhance interiors and bring intense, luminous energy thanks to their very different textures.

Mulberry Silk

Mulberry silk is one of the most popular types of silk. It is made from the continuous, uniform fibers produced by the Bombyx mori silkworm, which feeds on mulberry leaves. The result is a fabric with an exceptionally smooth texture and a naturally lustrous, pure white sheen. Its excellent drape enhances the overall elegance of the fabric.

These characteristics have made mulberry silk a superior quality fabric. It is the first choice of renowned fashion brands for their silk projects. It can be found in a variety of high-end fashion garments and luxurious interior textiles.

Tussar Silk

Commonly known as wild silk, Tussar silk is obtained from Antheraea moths that feed on the leaves of Arjun and Asan plants rather than mulberry trees. The resulting fabric is light and airy. With its raw and authentic appearance, Tussar silk exudes an atmosphere of understated luxury and natural elegance, appealing to those who appreciate fine materials.

Tussar silk is extremely fine, but thanks to its exceptional strength and ease of dyeing, weaving, and finishing, it can be used in many applications, including haute couture, furnishings, decoration, and textile crafts.

The Block Printing collection pays tribute to Jaipur and its block printing techniques. The Eco Printing collection is an ode to nature, with all-natural dyeing using tree leaves.

Contrairement à la soie conventionnelle, la soie tussah conserve son aspect brut une fois filée, ce qui lui confère sa texture rugueuse caractéristique.

The Eco Printing collection, with its natural dyes, is absolutely beautiful for modern settings.

Eri Silk

Eri silk has a woolly texture, and the original color of Eri silk cocoons can be white, brown, or reddish brown. When Eri silk is processed without killing the silkworms, it is called “peace silk,” in reference to its white color. In India, it is marketed as “Ahimsa silk” because the silk fabrics are processed after the moths have left the cocoon.

Eri silk fabric is durable and resistant and has a distinctive texture, making it widely used in home furnishings, particularly for curtains, bedspreads, cushion covers, wall hangings, and quilts. Its woolly feel adds to its comfort. Our “strictly natural” collection pays tribute to peace silk with its natural colors or colors dyed with natural pigments.

Muga Silk

Muga silk is a wild silk of a golden yellow color, produced by a species of caterpillar found in India.

Muga silk is produced only in Assam and nowhere else. This makes it one of the most coveted and rare silks in the world. Muga silk is renowned for its strength. In addition to being organic and natural, it is known for its longevity and is often part of a family heirloom. Incorporating strictly natural Muga silk into your home and décor will guarantee a luxurious and enduring atmosphere.
